Hattie is a 12-year-old African American girl with a love for science. But when she moves to a new town, she is bullied by Billy, a 12-year-old Caucasian boy, who mimics his father’s racist views and ruthlessly antagonizes her. After fleeing into the woods to escape Billy, Hattie goes on a terrifying journey where she finds the inner-strength to overcome her fear and stand up against hatred and discrimination.

We wanted to make this film to bring awareness to the fact that racism is an ongoing problem in our society, however with strength and friendship, it can be overcome.

This is a capstone project in Emerson College’s Bachelor of Fine Arts Thesis Film Program.
